Phone position not detected

At home we have  learning nest thermostat and a battery nest cam.

We also have two phone: mine is an Android, my wife's is an iOS.

We both have installed nest app and Google home app, configured in exactly the same way.

On both nest and home app phone's location is on but home app is controlling the phone's position.

In home app I have two routines:

- if both phones are out, camera must go on and thermostat off

- if at least one phone is home, camera must turn off and heating on

Untill two days ago all was good, but two days ago home app on my phone would not detected activities, thus preventing routines to run, even if my phone's status is correctly detected.

Thus morning my wife left home and I stayed home, then she came back and we both left home, just come back later.

When my wife left home alone, I asked her to check her phone's status in home app: it was away. Mine if course was home. 

When we both left, on her home app phone's status was away, same on mine, yet house status was still AT HOME and no routine was run.

When I came back home I had a look at activity list on both phones: my list was empty, my wife's was correctly listing out/in and out/in

 

This is going on for a couple of days.

I have removed all devices, uninstalled all apps from both phones and reinstalled everything, to no avail.

Months ago thousands of users (myself included) had home/away issues due to a nest thermostat server side issue, eventually fixed by Google: is it the case again?

I think I found the source of the problem, but not the solution.

This morning wife left home at 07:45.
I called wife at 08:30 and the situation in google home app was:
- myself: phone status at home, house status at home, activity list empty

- wife:  phone status away, house status at home, activity list one entry as away at 07:45

I left home at 12:30.

I called wife at 13:20 and the situation in google home app was:

- myself: phone status away, house status at home, activity list empty

- wife:  phone status away, house status at home, activity list one entry as away at 07:45
Then at 13:25 I refreshed on my google home app the activity list and suddenly one entry as away appeared but at 13:25 (so at refresh time>) and not at 12:30 when I actually left home, yet house status was still away:

- myself: phone status away, house status at home, activity list one entry as away at 13:25 (instead of 12:30)

- wife:  phone status away, house status at home, activity list one entry as away at 07:45

I arrived home at 13:30 and looking at activity list on my phone at 13:35 I still couldn't find an entry as at home at 13:30 while phone status was at home, house was still at home:

- myself: phone status at home, house status at home, activity list one entry as away at 13:25 (instead of 12:30)

- wife:  phone status away, house status at home, activity list one entry as away at 07:45

So at 13:40 I refreshed the activity list and suddenly the entry as at home apperaed but at 13:40 that is when I refreshed and not when I actually arrived

- myself: phone status at home, house status at home, activity list one entry as away at 13:25 (instead of 12:30) and one entry as at home at 13:40 (instead of 13:30)

- wife:  phone status away, house status at home, activity list one entry as away at 07:45

So problem seems to be the activity list in google home app that is not being updated unless >I manually refresh it.
