Smart Life devices offline in google home but work in Smart Life app

I am having THE worst time connecting my smart life lights to google home. They all worked perfectly fine until I had to create a new "home" in google home and it won't work anymore.

I am able to sync my Smart Life account to google home and the devices all show in the app. However, they all show as offline but work greta in Smart Life app. Any ideas? I have tried EVERYTHING I could think of and nothing works. Tried deleting and installing both apps, reset all devices, unliked and linked again, nothing works!

It looks to me like you tried everything.  I wish I had more to offer.  I will just tell you what I would do, but I think you have already done it.  Worth noting I don't have any "Smart Life" devices, but the principles are generally the same with other smart home brands.

  1. You mentioned creating a new home.  Do the devices in question still show up in the old home?  If so make sure to delete and unlink.
  2. Usually to delete non-Google devices aka "Works with Google" compatible devices, you unlink the non-Google account and all the devices go away.  However, if in you case you can delete individual devices do so.  Otherwise open any one of the devices -> Settings -> Unlink Smart Life (or whatever it says in your case).
  3. Make sure again that the devices do not show up in Google Home under any home and/or in any room anywhere and that the Smart Life account has been unlinked.
  4. (Optional) follow steps to verify or unlink an account in the browser (see way below).
  5. Verify again that you can control the devices through the Smart Life app outside of Google. They must work with the native app before they can be integrated into Google Home.
  6. Start the process to link the account.  There are some procedure variations by manufacturer so make sure you follow their steps.  Also be aware that in some cases as products change, brands change names, etc there may be more that one "correct" answer.  For example Trane Home used to be called Nexia. When linking, it's possible to use either, but eventually Nexia may stop working.
  7. Follow the prompts to enter your Smart Life password and whatever other information is requested.  It is critical to enter the correct credentials for Smart Life.  For example it may ask you to enter email and password. The email needs to match what you use in Smart Life and the password is not your email password, but the password for Smart Life.

Another thing to try...

You might be able to unlink Smart Life from Google using a browser rather than the app.

  1. In a browser make sure you are logged into your google account.
  2. Visit https://myaccount.google.com/
  3. Click on Security
  4. Click on Linked Accounts near the bottom of the page
  5. You should be able to unlink the account

Whew....that was longer than I thought when I started. I hope it helps!
