Speaker group weird behaviour

madepabloc

I've multiple two google nest mini at home and one LG XBOOM XK7 and I'm not be able to cast audio to all at same time. Only WK7 with only one more. For example, having a speakers group with nest 1, nest 2 and lg1, I share music to the group but only works for lg and nest1 or nest2 but not for the three.

After investigating about that, I read that is necessary having at least the cast firmware version 1.51 to assure all works fine and my WK7 is far of being up-to-date, it has the 1.36. I tried to upgrade this firmware through LG sound bar IOs app but it faces that the firmware is up-to-date. Also I tried several configs through Google Home app but I got the same result.

I hope all was clear, thanks in advance

Hello madepabloc,

Check out this guide: Create and manage speaker groups

Speaker groups containing non-Google speakers or Cast-based devices may not work properly in speaker groups if they don’t receive a software update. You may notice that those devices don’t play audio in a speaker group. Third-party Cast devices like soundbars with Chromecast built-in will need to be updated to Cast firmware 1.52.272222 and above.

  • Not all device models will receive software updates. As a result, they may no longer work in speaker groups and will need the Device Utility app to complete each setup or contact the manufacturer to know if an update will still be available in the near future.
  • Most Speaker Groups should continue functioning as expected unless you have a speaker group containing other brands of Cast-based devices, like JBL or Lenovo, they need to be on 1.52.272222 or higher Cast firmware version. Check out this article on how to find your device’s firmware version or contact your device maker.
  • A small set of users will need to use the ‘Device Utility app’ (DUA) to complete product installation and updates. You may receive a prompt to download and run DUA, and it will ensure that your device is connected to Wi-Fi and receives the most updated software version.

Hope this helps.

Best,

Dan
