Hi all i hope in posting this in the right area. I have had google nest 3 pack for 3 years now. Lately with lots of drop outs. At least 5 dropouts a week. I decides to factory reset everything including my app and profile and start fresh.
I'm having a really frustrating issue when I connect the wifi point to the nest router and it gets to the end when it's adding it to the wifi network and just stays there for ever. Can anyone help this has beat me. 3 hours in I'm asking for help before I go buy a new system.

Thank you for your patience. This issue has been fixed alongside the release of Google Home app 3.29, all users should have received the update by now. If you're running a different version of the app, double check for updates in the Play Store and try restarting your device. If that doesn't fix the issue for you, please let us know in a comment below.

I ended up uninstalling the latest version of Google Home and used the older version of Google Home that someone shared above in the thread and that ended up working for me. At first I got the same results but tried again the next day after rebooting my phone and the access points again and it worked then. I think google should pin the workarounds so everyone can see them first.

Same issue as reported -- sit-n-spin on the "Adding Wifi point to your Wi-Fi network" in the Home app. What kind of ETA can we expect? I am sitting around with just the main router working for me -- definitely not getting the coverage

Same issues here... can't get Nest Wifi access points (either the points with the speakers built in or the routers acting as points) to join/ install to the mesh system. I don't have an Apple device to try the work around others here seem to find works. Hmmm... I wonder how much longer we will have to wait for Google to release a software update/ fix??
If I uninstall Home and Install that older version linked in this thread, will all my devices in Home reappear after i reinstall/ update to the latest version... or will I have to spend hours restoring everything?

All I can say is that my Nest Wifi mesh network is a critical healthcare need for monitoring the safety of my elderly father. The fact that after a device reset, I've now lost the ability to extend my network into parts of the house that need to be monitored means that I'm stuck at his house, 10 hours from home, watching him myself. I have a hard deadline to go home in 9 days. If Google hasn't fixed their sh*t in the next 5 days, I'm ripping their hardware out and going with another brand of mesh network. Come on Google, your own damned operating system can't support your own damned devices? Do better.

I can confirm that sideloading Home App version 2.59.1.9 solves the problem. Unfortunately sideloading from that apk mirror means 1) allowing installation of "unsafe apps", and 2) Unenrolling from Google's Advanced Protection. So yes, if you want to pull out an old Android phone, turn off your account security, turn off unsafe app protection, and install an app from some sketchy download mirror, you too can install the mesh network that you paid several hundred dollars for. And it works flawlessly.
Now excuse me while I go reset this old phone, and reenroll in Advanced Protection...

When I attempt to set up the google wifi in the google home app on my pixel 5 phone. The app constantly restarts. I do not have the QR code.

App Troubleshooting:
Force Stop the Google Home App: Completely close the Google Home app and then reopen it. On your Pixel 5, you can usually do this by going to Settings > Apps > Google Home > Force Stop.
Check for App Updates: Make sure you have the latest version of the Google Home app installed from the Google Play Store. An outdated app can sometimes have bugs.
Clear App Cache and Data (Advanced): If force-stopping doesn't work, you can try clearing the app's cache and data. (Be aware that this might reset some of your Google Home app settings.). Go to Settings > Apps > Google Home > Storage & Cache and then tap "Clear Cache" and "Clear Storage."

Do you have an ETA on a patch to resolve this issue. It appears that this is a wide spread issue impacting a core demographic (people entrenched in the Google/Android/Nest ecosystem). The logical move here would be to prioritize a patch.

J'ai réalisé tout ce que vous énumérer avec l'aide de Google assistance mais rien n'y a fait le problème était toujours présent.
La réponse qui m'a été donnée par les ingénieurs de Google était c'est un problème matériel votre matériel est trop vieux nous ne pouvons rien y faire.
J'ai utilisé un iPhone comme évoqué par d'autres utilisateurs et sans problème j'ai pu associer mes deux points d'accès Google wifi.
Je me pose la question de l'obsolescence programmée...
J'espère que vous allez mettre en place un correctif ? Les réponses fournies par l'assistance Google est inacceptable, j'avais moi-même identifié que cela provenait du logiciel et non du matériel, j'y ai passé toute une après-midi à tout tester.
Le manque de considération de vos clients me paraît d'une autre époque ! Et cela me déçoit de la part de Google.

I'm experiencing difficulties pairing my Nest Point with my primary Nest Router. I've tried various troubleshooting steps suggested in existing threads, but none have resolved the issue when using my Pixel 9 Pro with the latest Home app. The setup process consistently stalls at the "Adding wifi point to your wifi network" stage.
However, after resetting the Nest Point and attempting the setup again using my iPad Mini instead of the Pixel, the Point connected successfully on the first try. This leads me to believe there might be a compatibility issue between the Pixel 9 Pro / Android /Home app and the Nest Point pairing process.
So current solution: Use non Android device to pair wifi, setup mesh and config Nest Point first time.
Then everything is work properly with all devices, independent of their type and system.

I had the same issue, being in an endless loop of connecting the Nest Point to the Wi-Fi Network. This occurred after a full system reset (I physically reconfigured my Nest network). 3 points all connected with no problems, while the 4th wouldn't finalize its Wi-Fi connection. I dug out my old Android phone with Google Home app version 3.27.1.6 and completed the connection/install on the 1st try. The app version that wouldn't complete the task is 3.28.1.7. Just wanted to add some info I didn't see mentioned.

This might help others... I used the latest Home App. 3.28 but before I began the install, I stopped the app and cleared the cache (I use Android and went into Apps/ Google Home and clicked on stop app and then clear cache in the storage option of the app), and I restarted my phone. I then went through the usual add device procedure in Home to add a point. It got stuck again but I restarted the Home App and this time when it asked again for me to scan the QR code on the bottom of the device, I waited and started entering the 8 degit device setup code number (its the number in the soft silicone part of the point), and suddenly the install progressed before I could enter the whole number, and it completed correctly.
I have read on this thread here that if you use that 8 digit setup code number under the device in the initial attempt to install, instead of ever using the QR code, that also helps the install to complete.
However I suspect the main reason I finally got the device to add to the mesh was the Home App cache delete (I suggest also first stopping the app and then after deleting the cache, restarting your phone.)

Bonjour, j'ai réalisé cette action chez moi mais elle n'a pas fonctionné, vider le cash exetera n'a rien provoqué chez moi.
La seule solution qui a fonctionné c'est d'utiliser en fait un iPhone de chez Apple et là tout c'est bien passé.
Pour info seuls les points d'accès m'ont posé problème.

Home App version 2.59.1.9 (Forced stop of the app, cleared the cache)
pushed the reset button on the mesh points, removed the power for two minutes, let it boot up again and finally used the 8 digit code to set it up.

Unfortunately, using an old version of Google Home did not work for me. I dug up an old Pixel 3 running version 3.2.1.7 and still ended up with the "Something went wrong" error when trying to install my Google Wifi as a new Wifi point. Tried everything else mentioned on this thread too with no success.

As others have said. Works with Apple products. Looks like it’s an Android issue. Maybe Google works with Apple engineers to suss it out? Just a suggestion.

I have now tried an iPhone, iPad, and multiple Android devices running multiple versions of Google Home with no luck. I'm about to throw a Nest Wifi Router, Nest WiFi Point and 3 Google WiFis in the dumpster!

Right now my options seems to be buying an iPhone or getting a new mesh network. I have been trying to solve this with my Pixel 9 PRO with the latest version of the Home App and also with an older version of the Home App with a OnePlus phone without any results...When can we expect a fix?

For those of you who were able to set up your Google WiFis successfully using a downrev version of the Home app on Android:
1) did you do a factory reset of the device you were trying to setup right before?
2) did you do a factory reset of the main router right before, and perform a (re) install ) on the main router too?
3) were your additional points connected to the main router during install? I'm seeing conflicting advice on whether or not they should be connected via Ethernet or not.

1. Yes, both of my points
2. I was able to get the main router connected without any issues, the issue was adding the two points - however if you haven't been able to connect the main router, reset it first.
3. Only connection was electric, no Ethernet used during the setup of the mesh network.
I used the following:

pushed the reset button on the mesh points, removed the power for two minutes, let it boot up again and get the welcome sound... finally used the 8 digit code to set it up.

I have an update.
I was told by a Google agent that the Verizon router settings had to be changed.
I had them change. It still didn't work. And they were still debate about whether the router was configured correctly.
So this weekend I took the router out of the picture completely!.
I hooked up the Google Wi-Fi directly from the Verizon ont ethernet cable.
However, I got the same results.
The original three Google Wi-Fis would not connect or configure. The fourth Google Wi-Fi that I bought about 8 months ago was able to connect and create the network configuration as before. And when I tried to connect the other three access points, I got the same behavior and errors as before.
Again, I've tried iOS and Android devices. I've deleted the apps. I've reinstalled the apps. I restarted everything clean from factory reset from the ont to each of the Google Wi-Fi access points.
Still no success.
My conclusion is my original three Wi-Fi access points had a software update from google that have rendered them useless.
I'm going to order ubiquiti
I'm with google! Thanks for making me spend money I shouldn't have to!

We have a router and 2 wifi extender points which worked well. We bought an additional extender that wouldn't connect. We reset all devises and now the router will connect to the wifi but no extender points will connect. It is recognised to start the connection steps and makes it as far as "adding wifi point to your wi-fi network" step where it seems to just time out. All devices have been reset multiple times, the Google home group has been deleted and a new one created, all cables have been checked, points are close in the same room when trying to connect. The google home app is the latest update from Jan 2025. We are stuck!

I have exact same issue, can anybody help? I did reset whole network, unplugged everything multiple times, hard reset 2 points (one new, one old to check if the issue is new one hardware) and I cannot connect neither new or old one. Please help.
