Good Day,
I'm not sure if this is the correct outlet, but I've tried contacting support a few times and keep getting bounced around. I have a couple of Google Home Max devices and am subscribed to Nest Aware. I am looking for one of my devices to operate in the following way:
- Have a Google Home Max
- Have Nest Aware
- Allow Google Home Max to be used to view LIVE activity
- Do not record or save any video history when someone is not actively viewing the stream
If I understand correctly, this is the way the Google Home Max would operate if I didn't have an active Nest Aware subscription, however, I cannot seem to achieve this.
There is a toggle in the Nest app under "Video" called "Activity History" (Nest can display snapshots from the last few hours of activity. Turn this off if you don't want Nest to record activity history for this camera. Turning this off will also delete existing activity history for this camera). This toggle has given me multiple problems.
There is also the "Video recording" option, which you would think if toggled OFF would do what I'm looking for, however if this is turned off, while it does remove all the "Activity History" at the time, the "Activity History" toggle seems to come back and it continues to save snapshots in the timeline. I think this may come from some confusion in the Google Home App <-> Nest App interoperability, as the Google Home app Camera settings has "Home Monitoring features" toggle.
Again, here is a video from 4:04PM, where the "Activity History" toggle has returned - notice that "Video Recording" is turned off, and when I toggle "Activity History" off, it toggles itself back on AND "Video Recording".
This definitely raises some privacy concerns for this device and recording.
