Usually they are on auto-renewal, either monthly or annually. We've never had to "renew" our subscription since getting it in 2020. Did your subscription expire?
Can you go to the Subscription Management page (https://store.google.com/subscriptions) and click on your subscription? Has it expired: If not, it should show a renewal date.
If you click on the "More" icon (the 3 vertical dots), is there an option to renew?
