Nest Aware Missing Events

TCle

I have two outdoor Nest cameras with a Nest Aware subscription.  These cameras often miss motion detection events; e.g., package delivery, someone in backyard.  Since the system only records video for detected events, I have no way to view video of events that Nest Aware failed to detect.   Is a fix for this significant issue?  Frustrating!

Hi TCle,

Thanks for posting in the community!

I'm so sorry to hear that your two Nest cameras outdoors are missing some video history. No worries; I'm here to help. This is a common situation that could be solved by following some easy steps:

  • Changing the wake-up sensitivity
    • Open the Google Home app.
    • Select "Favorites" or "Devices".
    • Tap and hold your device's tile > More > Settings.
    • Tap Video > Wake-up Sensitivity.
    • Choose the ''high" setting.
  • Creating an activity zone

I hope this helps! If you have more questions for me, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further.

Best regards,

Nery.

Thanks for your reply.   I don't see a Wake-up Sensitivity setting in the Google Home app on iOS.   I have the Nest Cam Outdoor which plugs into wall power.   I did find a microphone sensitivity setting in the Nest app and increased the setting from 75% to 100%.

Hi TCle,

Thanks for your response!

I have a question about a specific point you made. I see that you said you have a Nest Cam Outdoor. Just to make sure, do you have a first- or second-generation Nest Cam? When did you first set up the camera? On the Google Home app or the Nest app?

It is important to know this information because the camera's generation can affect certain settings.

I'll wait for your answer. If you have more questions for me, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further.

Best regards,

Nery.

I also already have activity zones setup.

My two Outdoor Nest Cams were purchased in August 2016 and December 2018 - so they are probably Gen. 1, but I am not sure.  They were both initially setup with the Nest app and then added to the Google home app later on.   I can check the cameras with either app.

Hi again TCle,

Thanks for getting back to me!

Yes, it's likely a Nest Cam Outdoor first generation. With this kind of camera, we need to check different information and follow different steps:

Hopefully, checking this can solve this situation. Remember that I'll be here if you need more assistance or have more questions for me.

Best regards,

Nery.
