Continuing “Silence” announcements reset?

Yesterday. I had two smoke detectors in the basement go into alarm form high CO2. I stopped the sores and cleared the room. The units clear and one back to normal. The all 10 protects are showing green in the app.

” sporadically one protect in the house is repeating “Silence” several times an hour.”

I have tried all recommended resets. With no success I cannot clear this annoying “ Silence” !

What I have done.

1. Turn on and off silent selection in the app. No effect.
2. Ran each individual smoke detector through a sound test. Directly at the unit and also through The app.    It did not reset anything.

I have two other items to try, but I am looking for further recommendations to fix this issue.

I’m gonna try next.

1. Disconnect all power and batteries. Wait, five minutes reinstall power.

If that does not work.

2. Reset reset the protective Factory settings and reconfigure.

Thank you for any further ideas to clear this issue. “ Silence”

Hey @casansest96!

It seems you've isolated the problem to a single Protect unit that repeatedly announces "Silence". Despite various resets, the issue persists. I know this can be frustrating but no worries I am here to assist you.

To help me assist you better, please provide the following information:

  • Age of the smoke detectors.
  • Battery type (alkaline, lithium, etc.) and how often they're replaced.
  • Frequency of the "Silence" announcement (consistent or sporadic).
  • Specific conditions under which the announcement occurs (time of day, weather, etc.).
  • Other symptoms besides the "Silence" announcement (e.g., false alarms, slow response).
  • App version and any recent updates.

By gathering this information, I can better understand the root cause of the problem and provide tailored recommendations.

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Regards,

Josh.

Hello Josh,

Thank you for your response. I found the single protect that was causing the silence announcement. I have removed it from the network. Since then it is stopped. The funny thing is. I reset the unit to the factory setting, remove the batteries and waited. Then I re-configured to the network. Soon as it was back in the network it started announcing silence again?
I removed it from the network again. It stopped making the silence announcement.

I believe something is happened to this particular unit after was set off from my high carbon monoxide. I vacuumed the unit also to clean it from any dust or debris. That did not help either.

The unit is a little over four years old. It's a hardwired unit. Version 3.5RC3

Thank you

Hello casansest96,

Thanks for your reply.

I'm glad you were able to identify which Nest Protect started showing this behavior after the CO2 alarm. Since you've cleaned it and confirmed that the other Nest Protects aren't detecting any more CO2, I suggest you please fill out this form. Doing so will allow my team to reach out to you via email to gather more information and determine the best course of action.

Please let me know once you've filled out the form. I'll keep an eye out for your response so my team can reach out to you as soon as possible.
