My Nest Protect no longer gives me heads up warnings before the alarm goes off - it’s best feature.

My original Nest Protect were great because they would give me a “heads up warning” before the smoke alarm sounded. So had time to silence them. No longer. I may as well go get a regular dumb smoke alarm since that was the best feature IMO.

Hi, we have the same situation with all our Nest protects.

Automatic soundcheck is ok, but no message is heard before starting the test.

All notification setting are as expected.

How to turn on the voice messages again?

Hi folks,

I'm sorry to hear about the issues that you're having with the Nest Protect's alarms and sound. I'd be happy to take a look into this.

Could you tell us the location of the Nest Protect that appears in the app? Also, try resetting your devices to default and adding them back to the Nest App to update their software. Here's a guide on how to reset the device.

Looking forward for your response.

Thanks,

Mark

Hi Mark,

I am not sure what you want to know about the location in the app. Could you explain?

I have reset one of the Nests to see what happend. No software update. Will see if during the next test, sound is available again.

Hi Rick62,

Thanks for letting me know that you already had it reset.

The location I'm referring to is the room name you entered for your Nest Protects during the setup. It might also affect the sound and alerts from your Nest Protect notification. But at the moment, please keep monitoring it and see how it goes.

Let me know if the reset helps, or if the issue still persists.

Best,

Mark

Hi Mark, the one I have reset just a few minutes ago is labeled Wasmachine Ruimte but Google cant pronounced that so I selected no name for this device.  The others are located in existing rooms and names.

But this configuration is used since the beginning, worked all the time until recently.

Hi Marc,

support request send..
have a nice weekend

Rick

Hi Mark, my Protect names are "kitchen" and "hallway".

I have tried resetting previously to no avail. I would try again but prefer not to in order to avoid the setup, which in my experience has been time consuming (tried multiple times & it took a long time (over 30min) for the Protect to communicate with my wi-fi).

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the help, @EmersonB.
@Morechorizo, I'm sorry to hear that you're still having an issue with your Google Nest Wifi. We'd like to take a deeper look into this — could you fill out this form and let us know once you're done?

Thanks,
Mel

Finished and submitted. But I just put the same information in the form as what was already posted here so not sure how that helps.
