ve the same issue. Nest Protect Gen 2 . Batteries have been fine for years all of a sudden they register low and I replace with the same Lithium batteries and within a month or two the unit says battery low. The batteries cost $20 so if i have to replace them every few months it will be cheaper to purchase a new unit. I have 2 nest protects purchased within a few weeks of each other and the other one is still on the original batteries. So there must be something wrong with the unit that eats batteries. Please advise thanks

Just checking, you're referring to the Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA (L91) batteries?

Appreciate you confirming that. To provide the best support with this, I've shared this with the Google Nest community team, who can check on possible options and next steps.

Hey there Felderb,
Thanks davidking for sending this to us, we are happy to step in here.
I understand how frustrating it can be having to replace your batteries that often. Would you mind letting us know what brand of batteries you've been using as well? I've been doing some research and we may have to look into replacing the unit for you.
I look forward to your response.
Best regards,
Garrett DS

Use the energized lithium as recommended by nest

Hey there,
Thanks for letting us know that. So you're still getting the same issues with your device with eating through the batteries then? We may need to look at creating a case for you to look at getting a replacement.
Please let me know.
Best regards,
Garrett DS

Nest info says to use Panasonic CR123 or Energizer CR123A lithium batteries for the Nest devices on doors. Is this the wrong battery?

This post is about Nest Protect. Those batteries you referred to are for Nest Detect.
