I took down all of my Gen 2 smoke alarms and reset them back to factory setting. I can not reconnect them to my wifi. When I go to add a new product and scan the QR on my phone takes me to the set up . I choose a location , then one of my thermostat comes up saying connecting. Then fails every time giveing error codes PO16(4060), PO14(0.64) . anyone have an idea when to do to fix this

I ran into this too with brand new Protects. The advice I got from Nest support was to add a new Home in the Nest App and then add them. It is weird solution in that now I have two homes with the same address — one with thermostats and a second one with Protect.

Hi everyone,
@iankinnersley1 and @atulpr thanks for reaching out and sorry to hear that you're having inconvenience setting up your Nest Protects. We'll look further into this.
To better understand what’s going on, I’d like to ask some questions.
Give these steps a try:
With regards to your Nest Thermostat acting as the assisting device, you may remove it then pair your Nest Protect/s first. After you successfully paired them you may then add the Nest Thermostat back.
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks,
Emerson

I haven’t tried these. These two things have worked however. I had two Nest Protects. I used recipe 1 for the first one, based on guidance from Nest Support. I then tried recipe 2 for the second protect.
1. add Nest protect to a new “home”
or
2. turn the existing Nest thermostats OFF. Then I was able to add one Nest Protect to the existing home.
What doesn’t seem to work reliably is adding a Nest Protect to an existing home on which Nest thermostats are not off. Nest should do more compatibility testing between their different line of products.

Hi atulpr,
You did a great job following those steps and thanks for getting back to us. Give us an update after following the steps I've provided. Also, just to add up, if it's possible, you may reinstall your Nest Thermostat then pair the Nest Protects first then add the Nest Thermostat next.
Keep me posted.
Thanks,
Emerson
