Seems like whenever I reboot the router, there is always one protect that will not reconnect without manual intervention, either by physically tapping the button on the protect or running checkup in the app. With pets, the loud noise sort of freaks them out. While I still would do the complete checkup monthly, is there a way to bypass the alarm/voice tests just to bring the offline unit back online silently?

Hi jbh,
Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I am sorry to hear that your Nest Protect is not reconnecting to the Wi-Fi network and you are required to do the process manually. But no need to worry, help is here.
Let's check some basic troubleshooting steps for your Nest Protect:
Check for Software Updates:
Outdated software can sometimes cause glitches with battery readings. Ensure your Nest Protect has the latest software update installed. Here's how to check for updates in the Google Home app:
Advanced Troubleshooting:
Sound Check notifications:
If you turn on Sound Check notifications and their Nest Protect is connected to Wi-Fi, you will get a notification from the Nest app about 5 minutes before Sound Check runs. You can choose to skip the Sound Check if they want to, or allow it to run as scheduled. If you choose to skip Sound Check, it automatically tries to run again in about a month. However, if you want to run the test or do a manual horn and speaker test, you can always run a Safety Checkup, which tests everything that Sound Check does and more, but it will sound for your security while doing it manually.
You can also try these steps if you want to Troubleshoot when Nest Protect disconnects or is offline, to review the Nest Protect’s automatic Sound Check test or to Learn about Safety Checkup..
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Regards,
Mario
