I've had my 2nd Gen Nest since 2012. It seemed to work just fine, but it NEVER recognized my "C" wire. This wasn't a problem until we upgraded to a Dual Fuel system yesterday (added a heat pump) and the thermostat refused to finish it's setup until I connected the wire... which was already hooked up.
After a bunch of trouble shooting, we determined that the wire was fine and I ran to Home Depot to grab a new Nest to finish the installation.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to determine whether the problem is the Nest or the Dock? I'd like to sell the old unit, but want to see if I can fix this problem first.

Hey rhouse21,
Sorry for the delay but thanks for the detailed description of your concern and for the photo.
Since you now have a dual fuel system, you will need to have a trained professional set up your thermostat. It is important for a professional to assess the requirements for your specific dual fuel configuration since choosing incorrect options for a dual fuel system can result in damage to your system. Please contact a local pro.
