3rd Gen Nest Learning - 2 stage Cooling - Does it display when active?

See a couple of pictures below...

I just switched from 2nd Gen (burnt out and died) to a 3rd Gen and wired it the exact same way.

2nd Gen would say "2nd Stage Cooling" when it was trying to make a bigger change to the temp.

2nd Gen had an option to set the humidity level.

I may have something configured wrong but I don't know what it would be.

As far as I know my AC emergency and aux heat are the same thing - a set of heat strips in the heat pump.

My thermostat went brain dead (Yes, the new 3rd gen learning) and stayed black and just only flashed the green light, even with sustained long-time USB power.

Did I kill it?   My settings are a little different, for the better.  And I got 2nd stage cooling now displaying on Nest app and thermostat.

My setup on home.nest.com equipment page now shows:

Hi Craiggers,

Thanks for being here in the Google Nest Community and for including the photos.

I'd like to know if the Nest Thermostat is still not turning on. If yest, could you try to remove the wires at the terminal and then re-insert them. Also, try another hour of charging it using the USB charger.

Let me know how it goes by replying to this thread.

Regards,

Ryan

I did try both re-setting the wires and I left the USB charger on overnight, with no luck.

Throughout that time screen was black and the tiny green light at the top would flash once every second or two.

After taking it off of 12+ USB charge hours I unplugged the USB and left it on a table.   Some hours later i notice on Nest Home page that it was communicating again on my network.  I went over to the thermostat and it looked like it was starting up, but then went black again.

I've replaced it with a new one.  I'd have been happier with 30 years of use but 9 years is not too too bad.

Thank you for your follow-up.
