this is more complex than just heating issues and spans the device itself along with the home and nest apps.
I have dogs and cats who i would like to be comfortable during the winter. it's currently averaging 5°f outside where i am and no matter if I'm home or not, my nest goes into eco mode after about fifteen minutes from the point of when I've fixed the temperature and settings. I've turned off anything and everything i can find related to eco and away/home sensing multiple times because I need to have complete control of the temperature in order to not torture my pets and myself with the auto eco temperatures that continually allow my home to drop to 50°f.
I've looked up how to change it and more often than not the specific screens/settings don't even exist in either app or the hardware itself.
none of my apps or hardware need to be updated and everything else is running smoothly.
I just want my dogs and cats to be comfortable instead of shivering all the time during the winter and being sluggish and panting all the time during the summer.

I have no answer for you other than to say that I suffer from the same issue. It seems as though Nest wants to help us save energy, whether we like it or not. It is very frustrating, as it takes quite a while to get the house up to temperature, only to have ECO mode start for no apparent reason. we always know ECO mode is on when we start shivering.

Hi @sylvie1,
Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear your Nest thermostat goes into eco mode after about fifteen minutes from the point of when you've fixed the temperature and settings. I'll be glad to assist you.
In order to detect the reason your Nest thermostat is doing this, let's check the information below:
|
An orange bar shows the heating was on. The number next to the bar is the total time the system was on. |
|
On the left of the screen, the Leaf icon is shown for the days when you saved energy and earned a Nest Leaf. |
|
On the right is displayed the main reason why the energy usage went up or down (compared to the average of the 7 previous days). |
Target temperature: Check the target temperature. The unexpected heating or cooling may have been the result of someone changing the target temperature without realizing it.
Home & Away Routines and Home/Away Assist setting: Check whether the thermostat is set to automatically adjust temperatures when home members leave and come home (for example, switching to Eco temperatures when the home is set to Away). If desired, you can disable the thermostat from switching automatically. Open the Google Home app > Tap Automations > Home or Away > Select the thermostat action > Tap Remove action > Save. Please keep me posted. I'll look forward to your response.
Regards,
Anders
