4th generation No Reponse in HomeKit

I got the 4th generation thermostat paired with Apple Home app and it was working well through Home for several days. Now I get persistent No Response from Home app. It’s the only accessory with no response. Otherwise it’s working fine. I re-paired the thermostat with Home but same problem. I restarted the thermostat without a fix. Any suggestions?

Hi there!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you are having with your Nest Thermostat 4th generation. I understand that you just installed the device, but after a couple of days it stopped responding from the Google Home, but it is still working by itself. No worries; I’m happy to help you find a solution.

In order to further assist you and give you the correct steps here, I have some questions for you:

  • How far is the router from the WiFi router?
  • Are there devices that could be creating interference between the router and the thermostat?
  • Do you have any other Nest devices connected to your network?
  • Is any other Nest device having the same behavior?

Check the next article: Can't connect Nest thermostat to the app for further information.

I will be waiting for your response.

Regards,

Daniel.

Hi Daniel - thanks for offering to assist.

- Distance from router:  10 ft

- Other devices:  Apple TV, smart ceiling fan, Phillips smart bulbs but none have created any issues with 3rd gen nest or any other smart home devices.

- Other nest devices:  No, 4th gen therm is the only one.

The issue is that I can activate it in Google Home, and control it. I can then Link matter to work with all my Apple / Mac devices and it works for a few days. Appears inside of Apple Home App as expected.  But then goes to "Thermostat No Response"

In fact, I unlinked it/ removed it from Apple Home.  Set up the link to Matter again, and it worked again for only 3 days, and went back to "no response" inside of Apple Home App.

Hi there!

Thanks for your reply.
I’m sorry for the inconvenience that you’ve been experiencing with your Nest Learning Thermostat. I understand that you are able to control it through the Google Home App, and it works perfectly, but it is unresponsive through the Apple Home App. Let me help you with this.

Here are some steps that you might find helpful:

  • Uninstall and reinstall the Apple Home App.
  • Restart your Nest thermostat.
  • Verify the internet connection.
  • Remove the Nest thermostat from the Apple Home App and add it back.
  • If after all this you are still having the same issue, you can factory reset your device and add it back.

Keep in mind that if your device works perfectly on the Google Home App but not in the Apple Home App, then you should contact them for further troubleshooting.

Please check the following articles: Get started with your Nest Thermostat and Nest Learning Thermostat (4th generation) and restart or reset a Nest thermostat.

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.

My issue is identical to yours.  Same behavior.  I haven’t found any solution and all the advice I’ve gotten is very basic steps such as resetting everything and checking internet connection - which does nothing.

My suspicion is that it’s a problem between Google’s support for Matter and how it’s integrating with HomeKit

Same issue here. Nest will successfully set up and connect with HomeKit. But will then fail communicating a day or so afterwards. After much research, there are many complaints on the Internet, but no solutions.
