I have a 5-wire thermostat in my apartment that has died. I picked up a Google Nest thermostat and I'm a bit lost when it comes to wiring.
Old wiring -
the terminals on my new unit are
Y, C, W, G, R, OB*
Any help is much appreciated

Hi @Jrod2244
Thanks for following up!I appreciate the detailed information you provided. Let's try to find an answer!
With your description I suggest following the next configuration on your new Nest Thermostat:
Always keep in mind your security when managing the wires. And if you have some situation we can try to swap the "OB" wire with the "Y".

Hello @Jrod2244
We are so happy to see you here. Let me help you with this wiring configuration.
I have some doubts about this description. To be sure of my answer, could you tell me if your system uses a heat pump or is it a conventional system? Does it work with heating and cooling?
Feel free to share more details with me, and definitely I will do my best to find an answer for you.
Best regards,
Douglas.

Hey Douglas,
I believe it’s a heat pump unit in my apartment. I wish I could send pictures in this thread because I was kinda puzzled looked at the wiring on the old thermostat.
the system does both heating and cooling.
If you need me to pull readings using a multimeter, I’m more than able to.
let me know what you think.
