AC Compressor Doesn't Turn On

dick_tracy

Tried installing my new Nest Learning last night. My house is all electric with a heat pump. Was able to get the fan to run and the heat to run, but the AC wouldn't kick on. I tried a few different wiring configurations based on what I saw online, but none of them seemed to get the AC going. Ended up putting back on my old thermostat for the night and everything worked as normal.. Attached is a picture of the existing wiring.  Any guidance on wiring this Nest would be appreciated.

Hey there dick_tracy,

I can definitely understand the confusion when it comes to thermostat issues as it can be very odd to figure out sometimes, and I'm sorry you're having trouble with yours, but I'm happy to look into this for you.

First off, I would suggest using the Compatibility Checker to see if your system is compatible. Then, if it is, I would suggest contacting a pro to come out to help you with this since I know that the Nest thermostat is not compatible with stranded wires, every wire has to be connected to the Nest Thermostat system.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns as I'm happy to help.

Best regards,

Garrett DS
