AC not DC

I have two wires, There is 25+ volts but it is AC. Will this work? 

Not sure which thermostat we have. White with mirrored face, no ring or buttons. Base is white round with oval hole in center, green bubble vial, mounting holes top and bottom. The six grey wire connectors are rectangular, not wedges. Which model does that sound like?

I'm so sorry for the delay in our response, but I wanted to hop in here to make sure we addressed your concern. I can definitely understand the confusion when it comes to thermostat issues as it can be very odd to figure out sometimes, but I'm happy to look into this for you. 

First off, I would suggest using the Compatibility Checker to see if your system is compatible. I found a great article that will help you with this.
