Activity Log not reflecting temp changes

Hi All!  I’m very happy with the nest thermostat overall. We have 2 in our home - 1 downstairs and 1 in the upstairs apartment that we rent out. We include the heat, so we worked out a simple schedule with the tenants. 8:15am the heat turns down to 65 since nobody is home, and 12am it will automatically change to 68 since everyone is sleeping. We implemented this schedule in the google home app 2 days ago.  I’ve noticed now that the activity log will not show when the temperature is manually set to something different. For example, the tenant arrived home around 2am and manually adjusted the temp from 68 to 70.  I can see under Devices that the temp is set to 70, but the activity log is not reflecting that change.  Any ideas?  Thanks in advance!

Hi SLA252,

Uh-oh! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing an issue where the activity log in the Google Home app does not reflect manual temperature changes made on your Nest Thermostats.

  1. Refresh the activity log in the Google Home app by pressing screen down or closing and reopening the app to display the most recent activity, including manual temperature adjustments, if it doesn't update immediately.
  2. Connectivity issues may prevent real-time activity log updates on Nest thermostats and Google Home app devices. Ensure stable internet connection and strong Wi-Fi signal on both devices or try reconnecting them if necessary to ensure smooth functioning.
  3. Ensure you are logged into the Google Home app using the same Google account as your Nest thermostats, and have the correct access and permissions to view and control the thermostats. Also, check if other thermostat control features, such as remote temperature adjustment, are functioning correctly.
  4. To ensure optimal functionality, it's crucial to have the latest version of the Google Home app installed on your device and the latest firmware version on your Nest thermostat. This will help resolve potential compatibility issues or bugs that may affect the activity log.

It's worth noting that the Google Home app's activity log may not capture every temperature change, especially if they occur close together or have temporary connectivity issues, but it should generally reflect major thermostat settings changes.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
