Hello SA57,

Thanks for reaching out! I'd be happy to take a look into this for you.

To provide you with accurate guidance, I'll need a bit more information about your existing HVAC system and its compatibility with a Nest Thermostat. However, based on the wiring information you've provided (O/B, Y, G, Rc, R), it seems like a fairly standard setup.

The wiring corresponds to the following:

  • O/B: Reversing valve for heat pump (O for cooling, B for heating)
  • Y: Compressor contactor (cooling)
  • G: Fan relay
  • Rc: Power for cooling
  • R: Power for heating

Please share with us a photo of your current thermostat. To insert an image in a post:

  1. Reply to this post.
  2. Click Insert Image (camera icon).
  3. Choose an image source location.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Regards,
Mark

Hi there,

Thanks for the photo. I can confirm that it would work with the Nest Thermostats. However, the wires can be confusing. Tell me more about your HVAC system. What type of furnace do you have? (gas, electric, etc.), is this a heat pump or a conventional unit? Also, what is its make and model, and can you share another photo of its wiring configuration from your system control board itself?

Keep me posted.

Best,
Mark
