Alexa turns on but won’t turn off Nest

My Alexa voice control successfully turns on my Nest, but when I attempt to tell to shut it off, the app says it’s off but in fact the thermostat stays on

I have attempted a nest Reset

I have attempted to disable and re-enable the skill 

I have attempted to reconnect the Google Nest access

Anyone else have this issue or have ideas to fix?

No not good - when I tell Alexa to turn off the heat, the thermostat does not switch off . 

I still have to manually walk to the thermostat and turn the dial to off or use the Nest app
