Alexa won't connect to one of two Nest thermostats

This is for the Alexa app but it was not listed in the platform options.

I have two Nest thermostats 3rd gen.  They have been working perfectly since 2017.  I did the Google thing back in September to make sure they could still be controlled by Alexa.  They have been working fine being controlled by Alexa since then.  Two days ago, Alexa decided she didn't like one.  It is still working, I can manually change the temp and I can change the temp from the Nest app on my phone.  I deleted the device from Alexa and tried adding it again but she refuses to find it.  I unplugged it, left it for 3 minutes, plugged it back in.  Alexa still can't find it.  It is listed on my device list for wifi, it works manually, it works with the Nest app.  And the other one I have still works manually, with Nest app, and with Alexa.  Why won't she find the other?

Hi acrNorthFL,

Uh-oh! I'm sorry to hear the inconvenience you're experiencing with Alexa not being able to find one of your Nest Thermostats. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Ensure that the Nest Thermostat with the connectivity issue is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your Alexa device. If the Wi-Fi connection is weak or unstable, it may prevent Alexa from discovering the thermostat. Consider moving the thermostat closer to your Wi-Fi router or using a Wi-Fi range extender if needed.
  2. Try restarting your Alexa device. Sometimes, a simple reboot can resolve connectivity issues and allow Alexa to discover the Nest Thermostat.
  3. In the Alexa app, go to the Skills & Games section and search for the Nest skill. Disable the skill, wait for a few moments, and then re-enable it. This can refresh the connection between Alexa and your Nest Thermostat.
  4. Remove the Nest integration from the Alexa app and then link it again. To do this, open the Alexa app, go to Devices, select Thermostats, and remove the Nest Thermostat that Alexa is unable to find. Then, go to Skills & Games, search for the Nest skill, and link your Nest account again.
  5. Open the Nest app on your phone and ensure that the thermostat is set to be visible and controllable through third-party apps like Alexa. Verify that the appropriate settings are enabled for remote access and integration.

Let us know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe
