App Notification on Power Loss

Many HVAC systems have a safety switch that cuts signal to the Rh wire when a float valve (or other overflow sensor) is triggered. This protects the homeowner from water damage due to an overflow in the condensation pan.

The Nest and/or Google Home App should send a push notification to the owners device when power is lost to the Rh wire.

Hi KyleW883,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I appreciate you sharing this information. Google Nest HVAC monitoring for Nest Thermostat can help you identify potential issues with eligible heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.

The heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) alert service is available for eligible Google Nest Thermostat customers with forced air systems in the US and parts of Canada as well as radiant systems. Google Nest's own diagnostic systems check for the presence of irregularities that are related to the cool and heat function and are linked to common issues that might occur and cause discomfort to our customers. If thermostats detect a potential issue with customers’ HVAC systems, Nest app users get these alerts via email, while Google Home app (GHA) users get them via email and app notifications.

You can also adjust what type of alerts they get and how they want to be contacted in the Nest app and(or) Google Home app Settings. Then, you can easily seek and contact HVAC-trained Nest Pro technicians through the alert themselves. In some regions, they can get benefits through Google's partner, Handy, if they check the possible issue through the Home app settings.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Best,

Zoe
