So I asked this and didn't get an answer so Imma try again.

My app disconnected from the thermostat, and when I went to reconnect, it said it's still on my account even though it's not connected. I was wondering what's wrong and how to fix this.

Thanks for the help

Sign out of the app, close the app, clear the cache for the app, and then restart it , sign back in.

If the thermostat is linked to the same account you are signing into it , then it will appear.

Didn't work, unless you mean restarting the thermostat as well which i didn't do but i cleared he cache and all that.

On your thermostat, go to settings, and find the account that is linked to the thermostat.  Is that account the same as your Google account you are trying to log in with?

So for whatever reason the app disconnected from the thermostat and when I tried to put it back on, it said it was already on, and when I tried to reset the thermostat to factory settings, the app still says it's connected and it's not accepting the thermostat..I was wondering what I can do..

I hope I make sense. Thanks

Hi Lordjunon,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand your app disconnected from the thermostat. When you tried to reconnect, it indicated the thermostat was already connected. Even after a factory reset, the app still shows it as connected and won't accept the thermostat. I know how frustrating it is when you can't add your thermostat back to the app. I'm here to help! To gather more details, I'd like to ask the following questions:

Let me know if you have any additional information; it’ll be helpful.

Best regards,
Juan

Its a nest learning thermostat I believe 3rd generation (got it in 2019) Yes i have removed it from the app, and it started about the beginning of the month.

Hi Lordjunon,

Thanks for following up! I appreciate all your efforts in trying to get your Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd gen working again by removing it from the app. Let's work together to find a solution!

To connect your Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd gen to the Nest app, please follow the steps below:

1. Connect your thermostat to Wi-Fi:

  • Press your thermostat’s ring to open the Quick View menu.
  • Select the Settings icon. Nest settings icon.
  • Choose Network.
  • Your thermostat will take a moment to scan for available networks. Choose your home Wi-Fi network from the list.
  • Enter your password if prompted.

2. Download the Nest app.

  • If you need to get the Nest app on your phone or tablet, you can download it from the Apple App Store or from Google Play.

3. Get an entry key to connect to the app.

  • You’ll need to be able to touch your thermostat to add it to your account in the Nest app. This means that you won’t be able to add it remotely. After you’ve added your thermostat to your account you’ll be able to use the Nest app on your phone, tablet or computer to control your thermostat from anywhere.
  • To connect your Nest thermostat to your account, you’ll get an entry key from your thermostat and enter it with the Nest app.

4. Get an entry key from your thermostat:

  • Press your thermostat’s ring to open the Quick View menu.
  • Choose Settings Nest settings icon.
  • Turn the ring to Nest app and press the ring to select it.
  • Select Get entry key to retrieve a unique entry key. Follow the next steps below to use your Nest app to add your thermostat to your account.

Let me know how it goes.

Regards,
Juan

Nope, i tried all that, and is still saying they are connected and I cant reconnect it.

This is still not working. I reconnected and tried to link it to the app and it says it is still connected even though its off. Its been like this for 2+ weeks.

I am escalating this, as it may be on the back end of the system, hopefully a googler will be able to help you, as it its showing connected, and you have factory reset (which I didnt think was possible), we need some more help.

This is my third try with this, ive tried everything suggested in the past couple times ive posed this and nothing still. So let me ask again.

My app unlinked the thermostat. I tried removing the link on the thermostat, and when I tried to relink it, the app still says its still on the account.  The only thing I can think of is  I have to go to my google account and delete that data and maybe start over, or just uninstall the app and go from there or something I don't know. This has been going on for over a month and a half, and I'm really annoyed.  I'd like a solution.

thanks.

Hi @Lordjunon,

Thanks for posting in the community page. I'm sorry to hear the Nest app is showing your Nest thermostat is still connected to your account even though it isn't. I appreciate your troubleshooting efforts and your cooperation on resolving this. Don't worry, help is here.

If you have a Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd gen, you can remove the account connection directly from your Nest thermostat by resetting the account connection. This option will remove your account connection from the thermostat. To do it, please follow the next steps:

  • On your Nest thermostat, go to Settings > Reset > Account connection.

After trying these steps, please link your Nest thermostat to your account and see if that works.

Please keep me updated on how it goes.

Cheers,
Jonathan

Ive tried that and no luck.
