Bad thermostat

Why don't they have email support like any rational organization?

My Nest, which has been iffy since day one, is now rapidly short-cycling my furnace. The furnace has been inspected, and if I turn the thermostat up or down one degree it functions perfectly, making it an obvious issue with the control logic or temperature sensor. Battery is at 3.8v and problem would persist when I turned the target down if it was trying to charge. The temperature value in the sensor test is steady, and that confuses me even more. The device is choosing to toggle on and off only when at the set temperature, but once it does, it just cycles continuously. At one point it did this for hours until the temperature in the building dropped five degrees.

Is there a "please don't kill my boiler" option or some way to verify the firmware? It's not giving me enough benefit over a bimetallic strip to risk the furnace, but I'd rather not tear it out if I can avoid it, especially as this is new behavior after two years of acceptable performance.
