Battery too low to connect to wifi

Thermostate is blank. Does the thermostat require charging before installing?

Hi - Nest Thermostat (3rd gen.) requires at least 3.85 V to connect to Wifi and control your furnace/AC. You can charge your Nest thermostat by connecting to a microUSB charger for 30 minutes. If you have a Common (C) wire connection to your old thermostat, Nest can be connected to this to get power and start itself. Note, a C wire install is normally seen with at least 5 wires going to your old/current thermostat (normally a blue wire).

Hi folks,

Thanks for chiming in, @jb76.

@nlcoffey, yikes! Let's see what's going on. A few questions:

  1. Are you located in North America or Europe?
  2. What type of Nest Thermostat do you have?
  3. What is the make and model of your heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) equipment?
  4. Are the power breakers on, and do you receive power to your home?
  5. Is the thermostat's display seated properly?
  6. Are all the wires of your thermostat seated firmly in its terminals (with no loose or exposed wires)?
  7. Did you charge the thermostat using a micro-USB cable?
  8. If so, does the micro-USB cable works with other devices?
  9. Did you plugged in the thermostat to a working power outlet?
  10. For how long did you charge the thermostat display?

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe
