My nest thermostat will not charge, it’s 8 years old so think it’s on the way out
i have to manually put the heating on by pressing the boiler
Do I need to replace the whole thermostat? And how easy is it to connect again to the boiler?

Which model do you have, if you are unaware post a picture?
Are you in the UK?

Hi @amy1985,
Thanks for reaching out here in the community! I understand how inconvenient it is that your Nest thermostat, being eight years old, isn't charging and requires you to manually turn on the boiler for heat. I'd be happy to help with this!
I also appreciate your input, @Frustratedddd.
To provide you with the most accurate information, @amy1985, it's necessary to know the specific model of your thermostat and the country where you are located, as @Frustratedddd asked previously. This is to better guide you through the troubleshooting steps.
In addition, I'd like to ask the following to gather more details:
In the meantime, if applicable and possible, ensure all thermostat wires are firmly seated in their terminals, with no loose or exposed wires. Important: Before touching any wires, turn off the power to your system at the breaker box.
Keep me posted.
Best regards,
Jenniffer
