Brand new Nest Thermostat E plugged into usb socket will not power on

Brand new just out box Thermostat not powering up cannot connect to app td023 error, as not powered up.

Device would appear to be faulty.

I understand that it can be confusing when you just bought a new product and it's not working, but I definitely wanted to stop by and see how I could help.
