Can’t workout how to get nest thermostat or app added to google home

I installed the thermostat, and got it setup with the nest app, all OK, and everything works.  (I didn’t create a ‘nest’ account, just used an existing google account for the registration.

But

My thermostat came with a nest mini speaker, which I would like to use to control the thermostat.

I think that means that I need to use google home.  So I’ve installed google home, got the speaker connected, but can’t workout how to add the thermostat.  Several online videos suggest adding the nest app as a ‘compatible with google’ device, but that doesn’t work as it won’t accept my google account credentials for the nest account, and doesn’t give me a login with google option.

Am i doing something wrong?

OK I fixed it. Problem was I installed nest first so it had setup seperate homes for nest and Home. I started from the beginning and setup Google Home first. Chose other thermostat which then promps to open Google nest. In nest I could select my home and from there it was easy. Just go to Google Home and put both the speaker and thermostat in the same room.

I have the exact same problem. Can connect thermostat to nest app fine but not to home app.

Fantastic.  Finally, and its so easy.  Why the hell don't they tell you to start with google home?  Searching online i see loads of people with this problem!

How did you restart?  Did you somehow clear your nest account settings, etc?

I deleted both Apps and started again.
