Hi @Kate52,

Thank you for reaching out to the community! I understand your situation regarding remotely controlling your Nest thermostat's temperature and wanting to do the same with your new one. I'm here to help!

To provide you with the exact steps, I'd like to ask a few questions first:

  • What is the exact model of your Nest thermostat?
  • Did you use the Nest app or the Google Home app for your thermostat setup?

In the meantime, I'd like to provide you with some steps that might help, depending on the app you're using.

  • For Google Home app: Open the app > tap your thermostat > you'll see the temperature > to change the target temperature, drag the dot around the ring. If your thermostat is set to Off or Eco, switch to another mode to change the temperature.
  • For Nest app: Open the app > tap on the tile that represents your thermostat > tap and drag the dial clockwise or counterclockwise to increase or decrease the temperature.

Visit our Help Center to learn more about Control your Nest thermostat with the app.

Please feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.

Best regards,

Eduardo

Thanks Eduardo, that breakdown between the Google Home and Nest app is super helpful.20220325_152935[1].jpg I had a similar issue when switching thermostats, and knowing which app was in use made all the difference. Curious to hear what model Kate52 is using.

Hi @RobetJ1,

Thanks for that valuable feedback! It's great to hear that the distinction between the Google Home and Nest app was so helpful for you. That's precisely why we aim to clarify those differences – to prevent the kind of confusion you experienced with your thermostats. Knowing which app handles what really simplifies troubleshooting. If you have more questions or if there's anything else we can help you with, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Best regards,

Eduardo
