Compatibility with New Home

Hi there!

I bought a new Nest Thermostat in Jan of 2022 for a rental...we sadly had to move out of the rental in April. We just closed on a house September 1, and I'm hoping the new place is compatible with the nest we've been holding on to. Can anyone tell me for sure? From what I gleaned from the checker is that I might need a Learning Thermostat? And if so, is there a forum on here to sell used (used-for-three-months!) ones???

Hi @bec1881 - Yes, your new set up will support the nest thermostat you've shown in your picture.

Your old thermostat looks like a Heating system only.
There is a red wire on R,

A blue wire on W (this is heating)

A green wire Not Connected

A White wire not connected

Thanks! Can you please confirm that I can in fact use the regular Nest with the above wall panel?

Yes indeed you can use your nest thermostat with this current system at your new home.  Since there are a couple wires that are not being used in the thermostat that’s currently there, there is available conductor to be a connect to AC in your HVAC system so you’ll have a COMMON available as well.

Yay! Thanks so much everyone! I was confused because it's actually radiant floor heat in this home, vs a furnace. But I'll give it a go, and make sure it works! 🙂
