  • I contacted nest help for installation info.  They said to use Q+ or Q- depending on how the furnace is wired.  Does anyone know how to do this?

Hi @Cuppy406,

Thanks for reaching out to the community. I understand you're looking for instructions on how to connect a humidifier using the Q+ or Q- wiring on your Nest Learning Thermostat 4th gen. I'm glad to help you.

To provide the most accurate information, could you please share the following information?

  • When did you install the Nest Learning Thermostat?
  • What type of HVAC system do you have?
  • Can you please send me a picture of the wiring?

I look forward to your response so we can find a solution for you soon.

Regards,

Gabriela

I bought the nest 4th generation just before I had a new furnace and AC + humidifier installed.  Nest does not recognize the humidifier.  I contacted the Nest help and they said to use Q terminals and asked about the wiring in the furnace.  I don’t even know how to open the furnace because it is new The installer is coming to check it out.  I just wanted to give him a heads up on the wiring.

The system is American Standard furnace and AC.  Aprilaire humidifier
