Cool settings for device

just installed my nest thermostat the heat works great I set it for cool but it's still heat. How did I get the air conditioner to come on?

EXACT same problem. Mine is a 3rd Gen and I have a heat pump. It is hot as blazes in my house and I can't cool it for my dogs.  The more I tried the more heat blew out of the vents. It was 83 in my house last night. We are installing the old thermostat and if Nest can't come up with a fix it's GONE.
