My Nest thermostat is set at 70 degrees for cooling and is constantly going up to 85 degrees on my upstairs unit. My HVAC system is only a year old so it's an issue with the nest. Each of my five kids sleep upstairs, which is causing multiple issues due to the temperatures. Help please!

Heat rises so the upstairs will naturally be warmer. However, the upstairs Nest thermostat is located in the common area near the air return. Just because your system is 1-year old does not mean your system or ducts might be at fault. Are ducts in the attic leaking? Is your return air filter plugged? Is the HVAC system properly charged with refrigerant and proper superheat attained? Turn your upstairs AC on, wait 15 minutes, then measure the air temperature at the return filter, next then put your temperature probe up inside a vent. You should get 28 to 35 degree difference. If it is much lower, you have system problem.
