Coordinating two Nest thermostats

Pete_S

I'm thinking of buying two Nest thermostats and am wondering how it will help solve two issues.

My house is an open floor plan with three levels. I have separate HVAC units and thermostats for the top floor and the lower two floors. There's a large, open staircase between levels.

Hot air being prone to rising, the upstairs hallway gets a lot warmer than other areas. At the same time, the upstairs AC isn't powerful enough to cool the upstairs in the summer. What I'd like is:

  1. When the downstairs heat is on, the upstairs fan should also be on.
  2. When the temperature in the upstairs rooms is really different, try running the fan to circulate air.
  3. When it gets too hot upstairs, turn on both AC units.

Can I get the system to work this way?

Hey Pete_S,

Thanks for reaching out and we're sorry for the delay.

Based on your description, we'll need to have separate sensors being placed on each room upstairs to send signal to your 2 Nest Thermostats.

This is the easiest way to have your other room temperature controlled remotely using the Nest Temperature Sensor.

I hope it helps.

Best regards,

Ryan
