Current thermostat is very old. I need to replace it. Can I use a Google nest

I have an old non digital thermostat.  You know, one of those round ones with no brain.  I need to update as it is no longer working properly.  I would like to update to a google nest thermostat.  I was told to upload pics.

Let's check if your system is compatible with the Nest thermostat. Could you tell us the make and model of your HVAC system? Are you using a conventional or heat pump? Also, send us a photo of your wiring diagram so we can take a closer look.
