I am getting random E182 code errors. All wiring is correct. Any ideas?

Hey Krish1,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Google Nest Community.

This code means that there is an issue with the wiring of your Nest thermostat. A few questions — what type of Nest thermostat do you have and the make and model of your HVAC equipment? Are the power breakers on and are you receiving power to your home? Also, could you ensure that all the wires firmly seated into the terminals? (No loose, or exposed wires)

You might also need to check if your thermostat would charge using a USB cable or not.

Best,

Melba

Mine does the same. When I remove the thermostat to check the wires, the thermostat works again for a brief time. Could there be a fault with the thermostat?

I’m having this same issue. I cut off power to thermostat then look at wires. They all seem to be in correct place. I turn power back on and the thermostat work for a min then turn itself off and on constantly. Then gives the error message again.

I ended up buying a new one. The new one is working fine now. The one I had was only 2 years old.

The technician ended up replacing the wires with thicker ones that they normally use during an installation. He was about to replace the thermostat, but said that the wires seemed too thin to begin with. It’s been running fine since he switched out the wires.

This one is like 17 months old

My thermostat was only running for 2 months before this error popped up.

My Nest has worked flawlessly for 3+ years and this morning I got the E182 error. It seems that all of the wires are still connected correctly. Following the comment above, I plugged the nest device into a USB charger and there is a small green light blinking. Any other suggestions?

this issue just popped up on my end after only 2.5 months of operating just fine. Any ideas on how to resolve?

I checked the power and I am getting 29v at the wires. It works briefly when I remove and reattach the unit. I may buy another to see if it is in fact the unit. $90 may save on a hvac repair fee
