‘Early on’ appears to be missing

Hi - I don’t seem to have the ‘early on’ option  when I open ‘nest sense’ although the system is operating as if it is there and is on. I want it off. Can anyone help?

Hi Jemali1704,

Thanks for posting.

You can change Early-On settings on your thermostat or with the Nest app. In some homes, Early-On may use more energy because it runs your system longer. You can either limit the preheating time or turn Early-On off to help save energy.

With the Nest app

  • Open the Nest app Nest app.
    1. Tap your thermostat.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Tap Early-On.
    4. Choose the following options:
      • To enable or disable Early-On, tap the switch.
      • To limit preheating in the middle of the night and early morning, select Max Duration. This setting can be useful if your system is noisy, and you don’t want it to wake you up too early.
  • With the Home app
    1. Open the Home app.
    2. Touch and hold your device's tile.
    3. At the top right, tap Settings and then Temperature preferences and then Early-On.
    4. You have two options to set:
      • Turn on heating or cooling early when you’re at home.
      • Turn on heating or cooling early when you’re on the way home. Home & Away presence sensing and location sharing needs to be enabled for this option to work.
  • On the Nest Learning Thermostat or Thermostat E
    1. Press your thermostat ring to open the Quick View menu.
    2. Select Settings.
    3. Select Nest Sense.
    4. Select Early-On.
    5. Choose the following options:
      • To enable Early-On, select Start early. To disable Early-On, select On schedule.
      • To limit preheating in the middle of the night and early morning, select Max Duration. This setting can be useful if your system is noisy and you don’t want it to wake you up too early.

Best,

Mel

Hi, thanks for your reply. The problem is that I can’t see an ‘early on’ option! Please see above photo of the options I can see in settings. I’d be really grateful for your help. Thank you.

Hi, I’ve been trying to reply to your emails but they came back as address not found. Hope you can see this.

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I have discovered that I needed to disable the ‘true radiant’ function to prevent preheat. I haven’t been able to find that documented anywhere, but it seems to be working now. Best wishes, jenny.
