Emergency Heat

Replaces a Series 1 with Series 4. Emergency will not come on when OAT is below 40F despite the auxiliary heat (gas) lock-out set at 40F in the app. As with series 1 Nest the heat pump will not cope with cold temps. It just runs constantly blowing tepid air. I am disappointed with the new Nest.

Emergency heat is a manual switch. It will only come on if you manually tell it to. All thermostats work this way.

Thank you. That is not how the series 1 thermostat functioned. I did notice that the thermostat itself lost the outside air temperature. I reset the app (on/off) on my 'phone, the temperature display returns and the system now functions as desired. Again, thank you.
