End of support for Nest Thermostat is rip off for consumers

End of support for Nest Thermostat is rip off for consumers, but a blessing for Google stock.  You can tell this was all planned as a money making scheme because they planned it for the end of October when heating season starts.  Why not do it in the spring?

I have 3 Nest thermostats, and 5 Nest smoke/carbon Dioxide detectors.  I got this system because when the Carbon Monoxide detector is triggered, it sends an alert to the thermostat to shut down the furnace.  Do you think I can afford to replace all of it??  You better believe when I do, I will not buy Google products any longer because of this money-making plot they are forcing on consumers.

I can understand them not wanting to support the old thermostats by no longer updating the firmware and software, but to disable everything, including the wi-fi/app capabilities should be illegal.  My thermostats are all working fine and it's a waste of money and resources to have to throw them in the garbage when they work perfectly fine.  If I end up dying because of carbon monoxide poisoning I will come back and haunt their rich butts and will have my survivors sue them.  I won't be able to spend the money to replace them until spring.

I bought one for my office at work because it's a large 2800 sq. foot photo studio and I turn down the heat to 60 when I leave work for the day. When I wake up for work I turn the heat on from my phone so it is warm when I get to work.  I am self employed and cannot afford this. But I am happy for Google stock people that they are getting richer.  Now I will have to leave the heat up overnight so I don't have to spend 2 hours waiting for my office to heat up, which will cost me more money.

I totally agree with you.  And they will do it again in 2 years for the Gen 3 devices and again in 2 years for the Gen 4.  You should go look at the Wyze thermostats, which have the Alexa integration, remote app and room sensors as well.  And they do it for under $75 with their 10% off.  I use Wyze cameras and other devices and all integrated into a nice mobile app.  And they won't try to scam you like Google!

I'm an Apple girl...Siri is my guy.  I will have to see what thermostats and detectors work with Siri.

TNT SIM Registration has become a legal obligation for Filipinos both locally and abroad, but most are unaware of its official procedures.

SPOT ON.

Why would anyone buy a new Google Nest Thermostat (or any Google device) knowing Google REMOVES smartphone functionality (Turns into a Pumpkin)  when support upgrades end.

I can understand stopping software upgrades,  but nobody should buy one of these expensive thermostats knowing how Google removing functionality at end of support.
