Entry key

I’ve had the nest for over a year with no problem. I recently got a new phone and had to download the nest app. To connect the nest to my phone it’s looking for the “entry key”. I followed the prompts on the nest and the entry key does not show up . With out the key I can’t go further. Thanks for your help

The entry key is on the display, Settings - App - Get Entry Key

I have the same problem but when I go to Settings - App - there is no choice for "Get Entry Key", all it says is "Already connected.  The only choice is "Done".

Your thermostat is connected to the previous owners account by the sounds of things. I assume you have a used thermostat, not a new one?

Best thing for you to do, is factory reset to remove the previous owner. You will then have a clean account ready to set up your details.

Same problem. I got a new phone and now it shows my Nest app is connected to my Nest thermostat, but I can no longer control the settings (temperature, programs, etc.) from my phone. It just shows the Home and Away icons. I had the same experience as smithbl47 above; there is no "Get Entry Key" choice. I've tried a reset; nothing changed on the app. Any other ideas?

NO, IT IS NOT ON THE DISPLAY, that's the problem, there is no menu item for nest, or entry key, or anything, I went through all of the menu options scrolling down through them all (some weren't visible until you scroll further) and going through the entire set of menu keys.  BRAND NEW THERMOSTAT with just now updated software version.  The thermostat is set up in the google home app with the same google account as my other nest thermostats, but I can't get this one set up on the nest app which we find more convenient until I can get that entry key.

Hello needsomehelp1,

I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused you. I understand that adding the Nest Thermostat can be confusing, but I'm happy to help.

The Nest Thermostat 2020 version was designed and fully integrated into the Google Home app, as you can only use this app to add and manage it. Setup for the Nest Learning Thermostat 3rd generation and Nest Thermostat E is only possible through the Nest app, which also works with the Google Home app if you use the same email address on both apps.

Please have a look at this article and let us know if you need more help.

Thanks,

Mark

I found a video on YouTube that helped me solve the problem back when it happened last summer.  Also, I no longer live in the house where the issue occurred. But thanks for responding.
