Fan shuts off prematurely

We have a fan that can run independent of the heat or cool function (G wire).  When we set it to run for a specific time (I.e., 12 hours) it shuts off prematurely — there doesn’t seem to be a pattern.  The scheduling feature is off.  Any idea why it might not run for the time we’ve manually set it for?

A few questions: what Nest Thermostat do you have? Check this link to know what thermostat you have. Since when has this been happening? Also, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
