While doing some post-holiday cleaning, I stumbled across an unopened Nest that I don't recall receiving, from some years ago. I looked at the manuals on this site, and it appears to be a 2nd Generation Learning Thermostat. It refers to nest.com, which apparently no longer exists.
Is it worth installing as-is? Or will it cause more trouble than it's worth at this point since it's probably got very old firmware.

I would use a USB cable and charge it up to see if the battery is still good. Then see if you can get it to connect to your wifi using the Nest app. It should go get any firmware updates that are available. My Gen2 still works great.

Thanks, I'll give it a shot.
