Front bedrooms cold but living space (where thermo is located) warm

Cathalosullivan

Hi there,

I'm having a problem heating colder rooms in my house as my thermostat is located in my main living area which is a warmer part of the house to the rear.

My baby's room is upstairs to the front of the house which can get particularly cold.

Even though I have turned the radiator thermostats off in my living area, the area can often be warm naturally. As a result, the thermostat doesn't trigger the boiler when the heat needs to come on in a different part of the house.

To counter this, I turn the thermostat temperature up particularly high to trigger my boiler to come on. But as i have the radiators near the thermostat turned off , the thermostat will not reach that temperature and therefore, not turn off.

Surely there's a better way of doing this?

Thanks

Cathal

Google sells a remote temperature sensor that sounds like exactly what you want:  https://store.google.com/product/nest_temperature_sensor?hl=en-US

(Caveat:  I don't have one and don't know anything about it.  I do know, from this forum, that the more complexity you add to your setup, the more frustrating it can be to get everything to work the way you want.)

Hi Cathalosullivan,

Thanks for the response. I agree with CBFox, if you want to use the temperature of another room as a reference for the Nest Thermostat, you would need the Nest Temperature Sensor. You could click on this link to learn more about this.

Thanks,

Edward

Thanks to CBFox for the help

@EdwardT  would you have any other recommendations rather than spending a couple hundred bucks on a thermostat?
