had my nest gen 3 for year and a half. Never charged it now it says low battery I’ve charged it every night, come home from work. And it’s dead “low battery “ it’s in North America. No “C” wire never had!

Charged it last night and as soon as I put it on the voltage drop.8 within minutes.

Same with my Nest Learning…no “C” and internal battery died..

I was told by G support that without a “C” wire wifi will drain the internal battery quicker.  I’ve had a nest e (for heat only) not hooked to wifi that has been working fine for over 4yrs.

Hi there,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience you both are experiencing with the Nest Thermostat. I understand it's certainly odd that you've been charging it regularly, and yet it's showing a low battery and even losing voltage rapidly.

Things you might want to consider checking are whether the power readings that the thermostat is receiving from the system are enough to sustain its needs. You can find this in the Technical Info settings.

Additionally, considering you don't have a "C" wire, you might want to explore other power options, such as the Nest Power Connector. Nest Thermostats generally work more efficiently with a "C" wire, which provides a constant power source. Without it, the thermostat relies on periodic charging, and issues can arise, especially if the charging cycle isn't completed successfully.

I hope you can resolve the issue soon and get your thermostat back up and running without any hiccups. Let me know if you have questions.

Warm regards,
Mark
