Google Nest 4th Gen Thermostat Braeburn 3200 Compatibility (R | Y1 | W2 | G | O | B | C)

I just wanted to make a sanity check that the 4th Gen Nest Thermostat is not compatible with my HVAC system as per the configurator.

My cabin that was built in 2008 and has had the HVAC replaced since then uses a Braeburn 3200 Multi Stage 2 Hot / 2 Cold Heat Pump Thermostat with the following wires connected to thermostat (R | Y1 | W2 | G | O | B | C). Do you think that is is truly not compatible? If not, is there something strange or unusual about this configuration using the incompatibility?

Thank you for any insight!

Your old thermostat used both an O and a B wire? Typically a heat pump is either a type O or it’s a type B and you would not have a wire on both. Your current wiring is only single stage, cooling and single stage heat. The W2 is for auxiliary heat.

Hi CoolingWizard!

Yessir, it has (R | Y1 | W2 | G | O | B | C) connected on my current Braeburn 3200 thermostat. I would really love to go with a smart thermostat. What do the blue and orange code for?

@GX550 ,

you need to go to the Air Handler and investigate where the O wire and the B wire are attached. The normal operation of a Heat Pump only requires a single wire to switch the reversing valve.
