Google Nest Lock

I have two google nests at one of my properties but found out if you have the Nest in a lock setting to control a parameter or range of a temperature you can’t heat and cool if it’s in lock setting. I had to switch to e over for all my future purchases for thermostats and it doesn’t look like google has changed this setting still.

Hi jbombt98,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation.

After you generate a four-digit PIN and lock your Nest Thermostat in Heat or Cool mode, you'll set a temperature range. Anyone can turn the thermostat's ring to modify the temperature within the range you've specified, but they can't change any of your settings or set the temperature outside of your range. By locking your Google Nest Thermostat, you prohibit others from changing the settings or changing the temperature outside of the thermostat's specified range. You can learn more about this in this link

Let us know if you have any other questions. We're happy to help.

Best,

Zoe

Correct.  It works when you lock it but you can't lock it and set parameters for Heat/Cool mode.  It is one or the other.  Ecobee lets you lock it in Heat/Cool mode with a range.
