Hello EasyModeRome,
Thanks for reaching out here in the Google Nest Community Forum. I'd be happy to take a look at this for you.
It seems like your current thermostat wiring is a fairly standard setup for heating and cooling systems. Let's break down the wiring you've provided:
- Blue wire (Y) is typically used for the cooling system.
- Green wire (G) is usually the fan wire.
- Red wire (RC) is the power wire for the cooling system.
- Small Red wire (RC to RH) indicates a jumper between the RC and RH terminals, which is common in many systems. You no longer need to use it for the Nest Thermostats.
- White wire (W) is typically used for heating.
Your wiring appears to be standard, and the Nest Thermostat should be compatible with this setup. However, there are a few things to check:
- Ensure that your heating and cooling systems have a common power supply. Some systems may require a C (common) wire for the Nest Thermostat to work properly. If your current thermostat doesn't have a C wire, you might need to install one.
- Confirm that the Nest Thermostat is compatible with the voltage of your system. Most systems in North America operate on 24 volts, which is typically compatible with Nest Thermostats. To be sure with the blue wire and the yellow wire, can you post a picture of your HVAC system's control panel showing how the wires from your thermostat are being labeled?
I'll look forward to your response.
Regards,
Mark
