Google Nest Thermostat for Carrier Infinity HVAC

Has anyone successfully install the latest Goggle Nest thermostat for a Carrier Infinity HVAC system? I have tried doing self-installed and received a N260 error code. I have reached to Nest Support and was informed to install the Nest Power Connector. I purchased the Nest Power Connector and today my HVAC guy came to do the installation.

The HVAC guy informed me that the Nest Power Connector will NOT work properly unless I install DIP switches. Has anyone experienced the same issue? Anyone has successfully installed the Google Nest? How did you do the Nest power Connector wire connection at the board?

I will also lose some features and reports from the Carrier Infinity thermostat if I switched over to Google Nest.

I'm so sorry for the delay in our response, but I wanted to hop in here to make sure we addressed your concern. I can definitely understand the confusion when it comes to thermostat issues as it can be very odd to figure out sometimes, but I'm happy to look into this for you. 

First off, I would suggest using the Compatibility Checker to see if your system is compatible. Then, if it is, I would suggest contacting a pro to come out to help you with this since I know that the Nest thermostat is not compatible with stranded wires, every wire has to be connected to the Nest Thermostat system. Also, the N260 error that you're getting means that you need to have a Common wire as the Nest is only compatible with that.

Hi Jake,

The HVAC guy came and checked my Carrier Infinity HVAC system and informed me that the Nest Power Connector will NOT work properly unless I install DIP switches. Furthermore, I will also lose some of the Carrier Infinity features (e.g. remote troubleshooting) if I changed the Carrier thermostat to a Nest thermostat.

Therefore, I have returned the Google Nest Thermostat. You may go ahead and close the ticket.
